The First Nations’ Emergency Services Society (FNESS) and FireSmart BC are working together to support First Nations in building community wildfire resiliency.

What we do

Every FireSmart journey is unique. We are passionate about helping First Nations navigate where to start and what steps to take to build a more wildfire resilient community.

What can we help with?

  • Advising on the FireSmart BC program.
  • Guidance on FireSmart BC resources and programing
  • Work with the FNESS Mitigation Specialist/Liaison and First Nation communities in accessing funding through the Community Resiliency Investment (CRI) or the FNESS-Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) On-reserve FireSmart Program.
  • Suggestions on ensuring First Nation perspective and input are included in the FireSmartprogram.
  • Support for local FireSmart positions working for First Nations in BC.
  • Support for research projects within a community, or to serve a community.
  • FireSmart Training/Mentoring to FireSmart staff positions
  • Deliver FireSmart Education Presentations
  • Participate in FireSmart Community events
